Indulge your taste buds in a symphony of sweetness with our delectable Cherry Cheesecake Braid. A golden-brown, flaky pastry filled with a luscious cream cheese mixture, perfectly balanced with a vibrant burst of juicy cherries. As you take your first bite, the velvety smoothness of the cream cheese dances on your palate, complemented by the heavenly sweetness of the cherries.
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400°F. Remove the puff pastry sheets from the freezer and let it thaw for 15-20 minutes, or until cold but pliable.
Step 2
In a small bowl, stir together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla; set aside.
Step 3
Unfold one sheet of puff pastry dough on a silicone baking mat and roll it out to a 11x19-inch rectangle. Use a pizza cutter to cut each side of the braid into 12 strips.
Step 4
Spoon half of the cream cheese mixture down the center of the braid followed by half of the pie filling. Fold the strips of dough over the filling, alternating sides.
Step 5
In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush over the braid. Repeat with the second puff pastry sheet and the remaining cream cheese mixture and pie filling.
Step 6
Place the baking mat on a sheet pan and bake for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown and puffy on top. Dust the top with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
