Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon lemon extract
  • 3 cups flour, sifted
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 21-ounce can LUCKY LEAF® Regular, Premium, or Organic Cherry Fruit Filling or Topping

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F.
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and lemon extract. Beat well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt, and add alternately with milk.
Divide dough into three parts and wrap in wax paper. Chill several hours or overnight. 
Roll one part of dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness on lightly floured pastry cloth or board. Cut out rounds with 2 1/2-inch cutter. Cut centers from half the rounds using doughnut cutter.
Place solid rounds on greased cookie sheet. Put 2 teaspoons pie filling in center of each round. Cover with “center-cut” rounds and press edges together.
Bake for 12 minutes.
